A relatively new addition in the home fire safety arsenal is an electronic device called Ting that can detect electrical arcing in its early stages before it causes a fire, and will then notify monitoring staff provided by the manufacturer who will advise the homeowner of the issue and work with them to resolve it. This technology has promise and has been credited with saving a few lives already. My insurance carrier entered into an agreement with Ting and began offering the service a short while ago at no charge for 3 years, after that time, I can return the device and terminate the service or continue and pay a fee.
